Sao Paulo Congonhas International Airport (CGH)
Airport Information
(Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Housed in a newly renovated terminal building, Sao Paulo Congonhas Airport (CGH) is a busy facility that sees around 18 million passengers per year. The city's number two airport is situated around 8 km / 5 miles south of the centre of Sao Paulo and is also close to Diadema, Sao Bernardo do Campo, Santo André and Sao Caetano do Sul.
Congonhas Airport handles solely domestic flights, only serving a mere handful of Brazilian air carriers, such as Gol Transportes Aéreos, OceanAir, Pantanal Linhas Aéreas and TAM Linhas Aéreas. The larger Sao Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport is the city's international gateway and is connected with Congonhas by shuttle bus.

Sao Paulo Congonhas International Airport (CGH) Information: History and Facilities
Congonhas Airport has long been an important airport close to Sao Paulo and actually dates back to 1919, when it was first established. Built next to Brazil's historic Congonhas city, the airport's namesake, Congonhas Airport was updated in the 1930 and used for many different purposes over the years, becoming one of the world's leading cargo airports in the 1950s.
Remaining Sao Paulo's principal airport until 1985, when the nearby Guarulhos Airport was created to ease air traffic, Congonhas Airport is still an important hub in Brazil and continues to serve increasing numbers of passengers year on year, being used for mainly regional flights. The airport is officially known as either Congonhas International Airport or Sao Paulo International Airport (CHG).
Facilities at Congonhas Airport are excellent and its halls have become famous locally for their stylish contemporary architecture. Inside you will find around 50 different shops, along with cafeterias and even leisure facilities.
